Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Melissa O’Neil is an award-winning
Canadian actress and platinum-selling recording artist. At the age of
16, she was the youngest and first female winner of “Canadian
Idol.” Additionally, she is a Juno Award nominee and a Dora Mavor
Moore Award winner.

O’Neil currently plays a lead role in the ABC series “The
Rookie,” opposite Nathan Fillion.

O’Neil’s acting career started in theater where she performed on
Broadway appearing in “Les Miserables” and “Jesus Christ
Superstar.” She also had a flourishing theater career in Canada and
abroad with theatrical career highlights, including appearances in
“Les Miserables,” “Dirty Dancing” and performing at the
Stratford Festival of Canada.

In 2015, O’Neil successfully transitioned from the stage to
television, starring as the lead in SyFy’s “Dark Matter,” which
aired for three seasons; and also secured recurring roles on multiple
series, including the CW’s “iZombie” and Audience Network’s
“Rogue” and “Condor.” She also created a character for
Ubisoft’s video game series “Tom Clancy’s The Division.”
